Local firefighters make trip to Lancaster to honor firefighters lost on 9/11

LANCASTER – Over the weekend, several firefighters from our area made their way to the red rose city to honor the fallen on 9/11.

The Lancaster Stormers baseball team hosted a stair climb at their ballpark, climbing the equivalent of the 110 floors of the World Trade Center.

Several hundred came out from across Pennsylvania and neighboring states.

From our area, members of the William Penn and Altamont fire companies, the Ryan Township rescue squad, as well as members of the Strong Fire Co. near Mount Carmel.

This was the 14th year of the event, which honors the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11.
