Local businesses, groups recognized by MAEA
BARNESVILLE – Some northern Schuylkill businesses and groups were among those recognized by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association last week.
The group, based in Pottsville covering businesses from as far as Susquehanna County, held their annual awards ceremony at Mountain Valley on May 7.
Among the local businesses and groups recognized were Mrs. T’s Pierogies, Downtown Shenandoah, Inc., and UFP Gordon.
Mrs. T’s received the award for manufacturer product innovation. MAEA said they developed Snack Pierogies, which launched on the opposite side of the state in late 2023.
“Snack Pierogies are created with dough optimized for quicker cook times, transfer conveniently
from freezer to air-fryer, to create a golden, crispy bite everyone will love,” the MAEA wrote. “Mrs. T’s Snack Pierogies are stuffed with big, bold, on-trend flavors, like Cheddar Sour Cream & Onion, and Cheddar Ranch Seasoned with Bacon. From after-school snacking and game day appetizers to late night bites, Mrs. T’s Snack Pierogies are perfect for hungry teens and everyone else in between.”
Currently, they are only available in the Pittsburgh area.
UFP Gordon was recognized with the Manufacturers Community Involvement honorable mention and the MAEA Commitment Award.
MAEA noted their donations to local youth sports groups, fire companies, and more.
Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. received the employer expansion award for the construction of the Center for Education, Business, and Arts (CEBA) in the borough.
The multi-million dollar building is set to “strengthen the economic landscape of their
county and breathe new life into their community,” MAEA says, and “will provide a hub for all walks of life to collaborate, take classes, and find the resources and information they need to strengthen their skill sets.”
