SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah’s 11-12 All Star team concluded its District 24 tournament run and 2018 season in the semifinals against Cressona Sunday, a 6-0 loss at home.
The two teams remained scoreless after one inning of play, though Cressona took a 4-0 lead in the second, a score which would hold until the sixth inning.
That’s when Cressona batted in a two-run homer, taking a six-run lead in the top of the sixth.
Shenandoah would be unable to answer in the bottom of the sixth, with a fly ball from Justice Murphy finding the glove of Cressona’s centerfielder providing the game’s conclusion.
Afterward, Shenandoah’s players posed for group photos, and received their end-of-season gifts, and were commended by their coaches for their play throughout the season, and their composure in their final game.
Shenandoah’s 11-12 team was the final team in The Shenandoah Sentinel’s coverage area remaining in the District 24 tournament.
We congratulate the Shenandoah 11-12’s, as well as the Little League teams from Ashland, Mahanoy City, and the combined Northern Schuylkill team on a wonderful 2018 season. You’ve made your communities proud.
