LITTLE LEAGUE: Kowalonek pitches no-hitter as Upper Schuylkill majors advance to D24 Semis

SHENANDOAH – Upper Schuylkill is moving on to the District 24 semifinals, elevated by a stellar pitching performance.

Frankie Kowalonek struck out nine Schuylkill Haven batters en route to a no-hitter in Upper Schuylkill’s 4-0 victory Wednesday at Joe “Shorty” Uholik Memorial Stadium in Shenandoah.

The win moves Upper Schuylkill — the combination of Shenandoah, Frackville, and Girardville — to the semifinals in the District 24 Majors division tournament.

A northern Schuylkill team is guaranteed to appear in the finals, as Upper Schuylkill faces Ashland on Saturday.
