Lady Cougars head out west, win holiday tournament

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Jefferson County – The Hazleton Area Lady Cougars are returning from Jefferson County with another tournament title.
The Lady Cougars took part in the 29th Carl Truance Classic at Punxsutawney this weekend.
They faced Marion Center in Saturday’s title game after defeating Redbank Valley 67-44 on Friday.
Hazleton took the tournament championship in dominant fashion, winning 86-34.
Kaitlyn Bindas led scoring for the Cougars with 18, followed by Kayla Lagowy, and Sophia Shults with 12 apiece.
Shults was also named tournament MVP.
