Kline supers to hold rare Saturday morning meeting after overflow forced cancellation

KELAYRES – Kline Township Supervisors will hold their rescheduled December meeting this Saturday morning.

In a rare move, the meeting is set to take place at 8am at the township garage on Fifth Street in Kelayres.

Municipalities seldom hold meetings on weekends, including Fridays.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8 but capacity concerns at the Kline Township Municipal Building in Kelayres forced its cancellation.

It began with a pledge of allegiance and, shortly after, a Sugarloaf Township resident told supervisors there was still a sizable crowd outside trying to attend the meeting.

Also outside were representatives from Amazon Data Services, Inc., who want to build a data center in the township. They were set to give a presentation on the project.

They will not be at Saturday’s meeting, according to the public notice published in the Hazleton daily paper.

Also on the agenda is a consideration for eminent domain for a street in McAdoo Heights.
