HARRISBURG, Dauphin County — As the first full day of one of Pennsylvania’s largest events began, a Mahanoy Area girl honored our nation.

Cadence Kline, 9, of Barnesville, joined by mom Allison, sang the National Anthem in the Cameron Street Lobby at the Pennsylvania Farm Show at 8am Saturday morning.

Saturday marks day one of the Farm Show, and the first visit to the show for the Klines.

The Mahanoy Area third grader was the top vote getter in a social media contest to determine who would sing the National Anthem at the event in Harrisburg.

“It was really fun,” Cadence Kline said of the experience. Of winning the contest, she told the Sentinel, “I was like, ‘wow, I didn’t know I was going to win.'”

“A lot of people supported you and Ally [Bet] on Facebook,” Allison Kline told Cadence. “It was awesome.”

Kline was introduced by State Rep. Jamie Barton.

She’s one of two locals who will sing the anthem at a Farm Show event.

On Tuesday, Ally Bet opens the Junior Livestock Auction at 10am.

The Farm Show runs through January 11.
