Inmate at state prison near Morea dies, prison reports

MOREA – A man serving a life sentence for homicide in southwestern Pennsylvania died this week at SCI-Mahanoy.
Jason Roe, 44, was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday. Prison staff and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, though the man was pronounced dead that evening.
He had been lodged at the prison near Morea since Oct. of 2021 and was serving a life sentence for first degree murder in Greene County.
State Police are investigating, as is the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.
Roe’s next of kin has been notified.
