HS SOFTBALL: Mahanoy falls in home opener against Pine Grove, 17-0

MAHANOY CITY – Last year’s District XI runners-up came out strong in the first game of the season Monday afternoon.
Mahanoy Area hosted Pine Grove, who came second in last year’s District XI tournament.
The Cardinals’ first at-bat set the tone of the game. Callee Leffler knocked a home run off the scoreboard in right-field, sparking a 6-0 rally in the first inning.
That scoring hardly let up, as they secured a 17-0 victory over the Golden Bears.
