HS FOOTBALL: Upper Dauphin knocks off Shenandoah, 43-12
ELIZABETHVILLE, Dauphin County – Upper Dauphin handed Shenandoah Valley their first loss on the season Friday night.
The Devils entered the game 1-0 after a sound defeat of Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, the first 1-0 start since 2007. The last time Shenandoah was 2-0 was also 2007, a feat the Devils looked to repeat.
The Trojans struck first in the first quarter and, with a successful two point conversion, took an 8-0 lead. That was quickly extended to 14-0 by the end of the quarter.
Shenandoah would answer in the second quarter with a Ben Dempster pass to Nick Ryan for 6 after a blocked PAT. Upper Dauphin quickly responded with a touchdown pass, taking a 22-6 lead with about 4:30 left before the half.
Another score would give the Trojans a 30-6 advantage entering the halftime break.
The Devils came out of the locker room swinging, scoring on the first drive of the second half via another Dempster to Ryan pass. The two-point conversion failed, cutting the deficit to 30-12.
That would be the end of Shenandoah’s scoring, though the Trojans would add two more scores by the end of the game to win 43-12.
The Devils move on to another road trip, facing Minersville next Thursday at 7pm, while the Trojans are on the road to Camp Hill.
