SHENANDOAH – In the first scoring drive of the game, a Battlin’ Miner made their way into the end zone three times. Only one trip counted, with two negated by penalties.

The Battlin’ Miners wouldn’t need the two missed scores to earn a victory against the Blue Devils Friday Night, though, as a dominant performance gave them a 41-0 final score.

The majority of the first quarter was a defensive battle between the two teams, until late in the first, Minersville sophomore #25 Jared Graeff would return a Shenandoah Valley punt for a score. However, a pair of illegal block in the back penalties would negate the score.

A couple plays later, Graeff found himself in the endzone again, this time on the receiving end of a senior #14 Scott Schwalm pass. Again, though, an illegal block in the back call would bring the Miners back.

The next play, though, Schwalm would connect with junior #10 Gabe Davis on a pass in the endzone, finally putting Minersville on the board.

A Schwalm pass to Graeff in the second would extend the lead to 14, and shortly after, Schwalm would connect with senior #15 Carter Melochick for another score, bringing the score to 21-0 with 9:48 remaining in the half.

By halftime, Minersville held a 26-0 advantage, which would grow to a 41-0 final after several second half scores.

Next week, Shenandoah Valley travels to Snyder County to take on Midd-West.
