HS FOOTBALL: Mahanoy outlasts Nativity, 42-27

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Mahanoy Area's #13 Ben Terry attempts to run and elude Nativity defenders.
SAINT CLAIR – Entering Friday night’s matchup, Nativity hadn’t defeated Mahanoy Area in 20 years, though, at halftime, the Green Wave had a legitimate shot at breaking that streak.
Though, Mahanoy’s Ben Terry had other ideas.
With 7:58 left in the third quarter, Nativity, thanks to a #7 Stephen Spolski run, took the lead 21-20. That lead would be short-lived.

Terry and the Golden Bears’ offensive ground attack outran and outlasted the Green Wave in the second half.
A pair of Terry runs would give Mahanoy a 34-20 advantage into the 4th quarter.
A Spolski run would be answered by a Ben Manley run, giving Mahanoy a 42-27 advantage late.

Nativity mounted a late game rally, driving into the red zone with a few minutes remaining, though this charge came to a grinding halt as Mahanoy picked off a Cody Miller pass in the endzone.
The Golden Bears, now 3-3, continue their road trip next week, travelling to Orwigsburg to face the 3-3 Eagles of Blue Mountain.
