HS FOOTBALL: Bears down Miners, 48-12

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Minersville's #13 Brock Polinsky attempts to tackle Mahanoy's #32 Colm McGroarty, en route to the endzone.
MINERSVILLE – Mahanoy Area’s running game was simply unstoppable for Minersville’s defense in Saturday’s midday matchup at Veterans’ Memorial Stadium.
The Golden Bears (2-1) found paydirt early, with Mahanoy Area’s RB #32 Colm McGroarty running 25-yards for a first quarter score.
In the second, QB #13 Ben Terry would put the Bears up 14-0.

A pair of Minersville scores in the second quarter — a #13 Brock Polinsky 25-yard reception and a #10 Gabe Davis reception — seemed to indicate the Miners were ready to put up a fight.
However, those 12 points would be all the Miners could muster.

Five more rushes – Two by RB #18 Ben Manley and three by Terry – would contribute to Mahanoy’s 48-12 victory.
Next week, Mahanoy hosts the 2-1 Vikings of Williams Valley at home.
