HS BASKETBALL: Buzzer beater ends Lady Spartans’ season

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – The North Schuylkill Lady Spartans’ quest for a District XI title came to a heartbreaking end Monday night at the Cesari-Hope Gymnasium.
The Spartans hosted Allentown Central Catholic in Monday’s District XI 4A Semifinal.
North Schuylkill took control early on, amassing a 9-0 lead in the first quarter, a lead that ACC would chip away at throughout the game.

At halftime, North Schuylkill held a slim 23-20 advantage.
As the fourth quarter began, the two squads were tied at 34-apiece.
With time running down, ACC held a lead over NS, 42-38 at the midpoint of the fourth quarter, though the Spartans remained within striking distance.

With about 15 seconds to go, via a pair of foul shots, North Schuylkill knotted the game up at 47-apiece.
Overtime was not in the cards, though, as ACC scored as the buzzer sounded to take a 49-47 victory to earn their place in the District XI title game.
The Spartans finish with a 19-4 record.
