HS BASEBALL: Devils take second in Division II with win over Miners

SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Valley notched a key Schuylkill League Division II win Monday at Marty DeLuca Memorial Field.

The Devils hosted the Battlin’ Miners of Minersville in the first of two head-to-head matchups this season.

The two squads along with Marian Catholic are all chasing Schuylkill Haven, who stands undefeated atop the division.

Shenandoah Valley jumped out to an early lead in Monday’s matchup and did not look back, taking the win 6-0 over Minersville.

The Devils had six hits and six runs. Brayden Maksimik led with four RBIs. Jostin Lajara and Brayden Lutz each added one.

On the mount, Maksimik had three strikeouts and allowed three hits.

With a Marian loss to Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah Valley is now solidly in second place in the division.

The Devils host the Hurricanes Tuesday at Marty DeLuca Memorial Field.
