Holy Ascension Orthodox Church hosting vehicle blessings, Archbishop this weekend
FRACKVILLE – A Frackville church is continuing a tradition this weekend and will welcome the Archbishop of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 209 South Lehigh Avenue, is inviting the public to participate in their blessing of vehicles tradition this Sunday, July 21.
In a release, they described the blessing as a longstanding tradition held on the feast day of the Prophet Elijah.
It will take place around 11:30am, following Divine Liturgy at 9:30am.
Frackville first responders, as well as first responders from neighboring towns have been invited as well.
“All are welcome to participate in this beautiful tradition of the Church,” said Father Kirill Zawatski, the church’s new rector.
They will also be welcoming Archbishop Mark, the Archbishop of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania.
“We are also honored to host our Archpastor, His Eminence Archbishop Mark, and look forward to sharing this blessed feast day tradition with our community,” Zawatski added.
