Historical Society expresses gratitude for quick fire response
SHENANDOAH – The Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society expressed gratitude Monday for the quick response of the Shenandoah Fire Department when a fire was reported at the rear of their building.
Firefighters were called to the area of the museum just before 4am for a reported building fire in the area of Main and Cherry Streets.
Crews found debris aflame in a lot to the rear of the museum along Market Street.
Andy Ulicny, president of the historical society, said in a Facebook post that the museum suffered no damage in the incident.
“On behalf of the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society, we want to say a huge thank you to all who responded to the fire in the lot behind our building and preventing any damage to our building,” Ulicny posted. “We really take our volunteer firemen for granted.”
The fire remains under investigation, and Chief Rick Examitas continues to ask residents to remain vigilant for suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, and to report such activity to police.
The historical society will have its first presentation of the year next Tuesday at 6:30pm at the historical society on the Lives and Times of the Dorsey Brothers
