MAHANOY CITY – A Tamaqua man is in Schuylkill County Prison after officers seized 375 bags of heroin, 6.5 grams of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, among other items during an overnight traffic stop.
According to Mahanoy City Police, the stop occurred around 10:45pm Thursday night in the 1200 block of East Centre Street, when Patrolman Thomas Rentschler initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Keith Schlosser, 35, of Tamaqua.
According to police, over 375 bags of Heroin, 6.5 grams of Methamphetamine, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and approximately $900.00 in cash were seized.
Schlosser was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Charges for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance are also anticipated to be filed pending lab results.
“This arrest is another example of the hard work of the men and women of the Mahanoy City Police Department, in its tiring effort to rid the community of the criminal element,” said Chief Ken Zipovsky.
Schlosser was arraigned by On-Call Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg, and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $30,000.00 straight bail.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker’s office in the near future.
