‘Heritage Park’ plans unveiled for Frackville’s main intersection
FRACKVILLE – One corner of the main intersection here could be much more than an empty lot with a few signs soon.
At Monday night’s workshop, borough council discussed plans for Heritage Park, a new 3,000 square foot park planned for the northeast corner of Lehigh and Oak Streets.
A blighted building stood on the property until 2017 and it has been an empty lot since.
Borough council heard an update on plans being drafted by Barry Isett and Associates for what they referred to as a central plaza downtown.
It would “significantly improve the quality of life in the borough and downtown.”
The plaza would feature landscaping, seating, a “holiday tree,” maps, garbage cans, a water fountain, and more.
The borough’s next steps are to determine the costs and seek grants to cover that.
Council and members of the public discussed potentially moving the town clock from its location near the borough building to the park, among other ideas.

I think it is a mistake. It is a bottleneck now. I suggest you put another lane there so traffic could keep moving from the East side of Oak street.
