Hazleton Police cruiser transporting child to hospital crashes
HAZLETON – A Hazleton Police officer, trying to save the life of a child, was involved in a crash in the city’s downtown, the department said.
Around 1pm Friday, police officers were flagged down for a report of a child struck by a vehicle.
The child was laying in the roadway unresponsive.
Due to the extent of the child’s injuries, police began transporting the child by cruiser to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton.
En route to the hospital, the cruiser and an SUV collided on West Broad Street between Wyoming and Laurel.
No further information was released regarding the cause of the crash or the condition of all involved, and police said the crash is under investigation.
