Hazleton man on stolen dirtbike leads Shen. police on chase to Mahanoy City

SHENANDOAH – A Hazleton man is in Schuylkill County Prison, accused of leading Shenandoah Police on a chase to Mahanoy City aboard a stolen dirtbike.
Erickson Manuel Martinez Diaz, 23, of Hazleton was arrested Monday according to Shenandoah Borough Police.
Patrolman Mark Hysock attempted a traffic stop on the Diaz as he was riding a dirtbike. Instead of stopping, he fled to Mahanoy City.
The bike, police said, had been stolen in Plainfield, Connecticut.
Diaz also had controlled substances in his possession, a suspended driver’s license, and an active bench warrant out of Luzerne County.
He was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, receiving stolen property, misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and numerous traffic violations.
He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 3.
