HERSHEY – A local marching band had an impressive showing at the final event of the competitive season over the weekend.

The Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships took place Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium in Dauphin County.

The Hazleton Area Marching Cougars capped off their 2025 campaign with the event, competing against 13 other bands from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York in Group 2-A.

The Cougars returned to the anthracite region with a fourth-place finish with a score of 88.24.

“Our Marching Cougars capped off an incredible season with a performance that reflects their hard work, talent, and commitment,” said Dr. Brian Uplinger, Superintendent of Hazleton Area School District. “Competing against such strong regional talent, they represented our school and community with excellence and pride. We couldn’t be more proud of their achievements this season.”

Hazleton Area performed their 2025 field show, A Day of Play, featuring the selections Rhapsody in Blue, Surprise Symphony, Country Gardens, and I Hear a Symphony.

The band’s placement among the top four in their group marks a significant achievement for the program, highlighting the dedication and hard work of its students, staff, and boosters throughout the season.

Another Sentinel-area band, North Schuylkill, performed at the ACC’s this year.

The Spartans placed 14th in Group 1-A with a score of 75.15. They were among 22 bands to perform in Group 1-A.
