Hazleton Area indoor performance programs prepare for championships; how you can help

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - The Hazleton Area indoor guard unit performs at the Lake-Lehman Performing Arts Showcase on March 22, 2025.

HAZLETON – The Hazleton Area Indoor Performance Ensembles are headed to the Atlantic Coast Championships, and you can help make it a memorable experience for all involved.

The color guard has qualified for their second year in a row and indoor winds have qualified for the first time.

Championships take place April 30 to May 4 in Wildwood, New Jersey. The indoor guard program hopes to improve on a 6th place finish in finals last year with their show “Inertia.” Winds will perform their show “Acceleration.”

The program is seeking community support to help keep costs down and cover food items, first aid prep, toiletries, as well as items to help celebrate the program’s seniors with their own prom.

An Amazon Wishlist has been set up from which items can be bought and sent directly to the program.

If you’d like to catch the program in action before they head to the Garden State, their next two competitions are in the Lehigh Valley — at Salisbury on April 12 and Region 2 Championships at Parkland on April 26.

Any questions about how you can help these talented students in any way, please contact Mary Lichtenwalner, Director of Bands at Hazleton Area HS/Hazleton Area Arts and Humanities Academy: [email protected].
