Hazardous eyesores reduced to rubble on West Atlantic

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Three buildings on West Atlantic Street were reduced to rubble on July 3, 2024.
SHENANDOAH – A set of buildings that have been abandoned for decades on the southside have been reduced to rubble.
The buildings at 323-325-327 West Atlantic Street were brought down Wednesday after another partial collapse.

Tucked away down the West Atlantic Street alleyway, half a block from St. Michael’s Church and the former Trinity Academy, the abandoned set are a hazard, not only to them, but to passersby, neighbors say.
The two story home at 327 West Atlantic was boarded up in a 1995 photo on the Schuylkill County Parcel Locator, in a similar fashion as it sat until today. Properties at 325, a three story home, and 323, the two-story garage, are a part of parcels fronted on West Oak Street.
Firefighters were previously called to the block in 2019 for a partial collapse.
