TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, Monroe County – A local volunteer fire company spent their weekend helping out during Pocono Raceway’s second NASCAR Cup Series weekend of the year this weekend.
The Good American Hose Co. of Mahanoy City stood by at the fuel island in the track’s infield, in case of an incident requiring a fire response. The fire company was there for each event for the NASCAR Cup Series, Truck Series, and ARCA Racing Series.
The opportunity was extended to the fire company by Horrocks Fire and Rescue Apparatus and Brian Horrocks, from whom the company purchased their Rosenbauer Pumper Tanker. The Good American was among three fire companies invited to help out, according to a post on Horrocks’ Facebook Page.
During the weekend, members of the Good American had the opportunity to meet drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series, Truck Series, and ARCA Racing Series, including Chase Elliott, Natalie Decker, William Byron, Chase Elliott, and Michael Waltrip.
“We got to meet alot of the drivers and get some autographs,” said firefighter Autumn Huseby. “I just want to give a huge shoutout to Brian W. Horrocks and Horrocks Fire & Rescue Apparatus. It wouldn’t have been possible for us to go up there and experience that without him and his team.”
