Girardville staple makes website’s list of top 35 burger varieties
GIRARDVILLE – Have you ever heard of a Slaw Burger? How about a KiwiBurger, or a Bøfsandwich? According to TasteAtlas, a self-described “encyclopedia of flavors,” they’re among the top 35 best burger varieties in the world, and so is a local staple.
The Fluff Screamer — a Tony’s Lunch specialty for decades — clocks in at #33 on the list, which includes a wide variety of traditional, unique, and eclectic takes on the American classic.
TasteAtlas describes the burger as “a meat patty, burger buns, chili sauce, raw onions, marshmallow fluff, and a dab of butter.”
“If desired, a slice of American cheese can also be added to the burger,” they write.
Now, what in the world are the other varieties we mentioned?
A Slaw Burger is common down south. Essentially a traditional hamburger with coleslaw.
A KiwiBurger, as the name might suggest, hails from New Zealand. It’s a four-ounce beef patty, fried egg, beetroot, grilled onions, and additional ingredients such as tomato, lettuce, cheese, mustard, and ketchup.
Also as the name suggests, a Bøfsandwich is the Danish version of the hamburger. TasteAtlas doesn’t describe it as being very different from a traditional burger, though the photo tells a different tale.
