Girardville man crashes car down embankment, leaves scene in Mt. Carbon
MOUNT CARBON – A Girardville man will be cited for careless driving after he crashed his car over an embankment and left the scene Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just before 6:00am at 1048 Bakery Road near South Centre Street in the borough.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven say Zachary Rudiman, 18, of Girardville, was headed north on Bakery Road at an unsafe speed.
Negotiating a left-hand turn, Rudiman lost control of his 2013 Kia Optima, leaving the right shoulder of the roadway, hitting two trees, and crashing down a 20 foot embankment.
Troopers arrived to find no one at the scene, and Rudiman was not confirmed as the operator until several hours later.
He will be cited for careless driving, troopers said.
