Girardville man accused of breaking into vacant home
GIRARDVILLE – A 26-year-old Girardville man is accused of breaking into a vacant home in town and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Anthony Kleeman Jr., 26, of 231 East Mahanoy Avenue, is facing a felony charge of criminal trespass and a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Michael Owens of the State Police at Frackville Wednesday, troopers were called to a home at 101 Reed Street around 1:15pm that day for a reported burglary.
Troopers said the burglary was reported by a caretaker for the property, whose owner had recently passed away.
The interior of the home appeared to have been ransacked, and troopers cleared the property for intruders or signs of forced entry.
In the basement, Owens said he spotted Kleeman sitting in a chair and he was promptly taken into custody.
On an ottoman in front of Kleeman was a hypodermic needle with an orange cap, troopers said.
Kleeman, troopers said, claimed he was given permission to enter the residence by a “Mike” who lived nearby. The only people permitted in the home were the owner’s family and the caretaker, none of whom were “Mike.”
The next door neighbor also was not “Mike,” troopers said.
Later, troopers said Kleeman admitted he was not given permission to enter the home and that he used hypodermic needles to ingest methamphetamine.
He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $15,000 bail.
