Gilberton crash victim identified as Ashland man
GILBERTON – Police have identified the man killed in yesterday’s Gold Star Highway crash here.
Frackville Police Chief Rick Bell said the victim was John Michael Comarnisky, 66, of Ashland.
Police said previously that the crash happened around 12:30pm near the Gilberton overpass when a white car was headed south towards Frackville “at a high rate of speed” when it struck a guide rail and dropped off the roadside embankment into Maizeville.
Frackville Police were assisted at the scene by firefighters from the boroughs of Gilberton and Mahanoy City, Shenandoah Ambulance, and police officers from Shenandoah, Ashland, Mahanoy City, and West Mahanoy Township.
