Fundraising effort helps Girardvile PD obtain bodycams
GIRARDVILLE – Girardville’s police department, thanks to a recent fundraising effort, will now have a critical accountability tool in the field.
Mayor Michael Zangari showed one of the borough police department’s three new body cameras at Wednesday’s borough council meeting.
“The gameplan is, any time an officer interacts with the public in any way, the bodycam will be on to ensure that our officer is providing the service that they’re supposed to be,” Zangari said, as well as to protect the officer should they be the target of an assault.
The cameras were purchased at no cost to the borough thanks to a fundraiser conducted by the police department, Zangari said.
The bodycams, he said, can also be used as a dashcam or a point-and-shoot camera, if need be.
