Frackville woman stranded in Peru returns home
FRACKVILLE – A week and a day ago, we first reported that a Frackville college student studying abroad was stranded in Peru after that country closed its borders as a coronavirus precaution.
Today, she is home again in the Keystone state.
Madison Stoyer told the Sentinel today, with assistance from the U.S. Embassy, she was able to fly back to the country via charter flights from Cusco to Lima to Miami, Florida.
From there, she had to find her own flight back to Pennsylvania.
A photo shared to social media showed Madison with parents Denise and Curtis at Philadelphia International Airport in Tinicum Township today.
Madison, a 2017 Marian Catholic graduate and junior at Elizabethtown College, was among a group of students studying abroad in the South American country.
