Frackville council provides update on grantwriter search
FRACKVILLE – The search is underway for a grantwriter for this borough.
Asked for an update by Patti Domalakes, Councilman Ed Beneshunas said three people are on their radar.
“We’ll be bringing them in to meet with several council members to see what they have to offer,” Beneshunas said. “All three of them have different scopes of what they offer. Some offer engineering services, some offer general grantwriting services.”
Council President Ron Jordan said they plan to have a special meeting to hire the grantwriter.
The matter originally came up at last month’s meeting, hoping the new position will help the borough find funding for various projects, such as the Lehigh Avenue streetscape project
“We’ve got to do a bit of homework [first],” Jordan said at the time. “Rather than just put it in the paper and seeking.”
In other business, council approved:
- Purchasing replacement batteries for police radios $994.32 from Green’s Communications;
- Advertising to hire lifeguards and seasonal workers for the pool;
- Allowing a flag retirement ceremony at the American Legion on Nov. 12.
