Frackville cancels pumpkin festival; two events continuing

FRACKVILLE – The annual Frackville Pumpkin Festival, set for October 3, has been called off, the Frackville Business and Professional Association announced today.

“We do not feel that we can plan the event with the current uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and be certain that volunteers and attendees could safely participate,” the association said in a release.

Despite the cancellation, two activities normally held with the event will go on via the Frackville Free Public Library.

The Art of the Pumpkin, an art contest for teens and adults, and My Favorite Pumpkin, a creative pumpkin project for younger children, will be held at the library. Blank wooden pumpkins can be purchased for the former for $5, and a foam pumpkin art kit for the latter can be purchased for $2.

All proceeds benefit the library and prizes will be awarded.
