Four displaced in Mahanoy City fire
MAHANOY CITY – Flames heavily damaged at least two homes in Mahanoy City Wednesday afternoon, displacing four residents.
Firefighters were called to 1038 East Market Street for a reported house fire just after 2pm.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire at the rear of the triplex.
A second alarm was struck, bringing firefighters from Shenandoah, Barnesville, Tamaqua, and Girardville to the scene, among others.
The fire was brought under control within about half an hour, though firefighters remained on scene past 4pm.
No injuries were reported, but four people were displaced and two cats died in the fire.
Homes at 1038 and 1036 East Market sustained heavy fire damage in the blaze.
