Foster reviewing proposed plans for six large warehouses

BUCK RUN – Foster Township is reviewing a proposal which could see six large warehouses constructed on reclaimed mine land owned by Reading Anthracite.

The plans were received by the township Wednesday.

Proposed by CRG Acquisition, LLC, of Conshohocken, Montgomery County, the six warehouses would be built on Reading Anthracite land west of Route 901 along Pleasant Road, west of the 901 Pub.

The largest of the proposed warehouses are 1.625 Million square feet, with two 1.14 Million square foot and two 800,000 square foot warehouses proposed as well.

Dan Cook, project engineer for Alfred Benesch and Co., requested township approval to begin the review process and to establish an escrow account for related fees.

One resident was concerned the development would encroach on homes on Lower Beechwood Drive.

The township cautioned that the current plans are a “wishlist,” and it “may not be fulfilled the way they have it planned.”

Township Solicitor Edward Brennan also mentioned that part of the plan includes development in a residential district which would not be permitted.

He said the company told him their intent is not to build right up against housing.
