Former township treasurer accused of theft

LORBERRY – The former Tremont Township treasurer is accused of stealing over $22,000 from the municipality.

State Police at Schuylkill Haven filed felony theft and forgery charges Tuesday against Rhiannon Adams, 40, of Tremont.

Troopers said between April 2023 and March 2024, she made $22,572.63 in fraudulent purchases.

She’s accused of using a township-owned credit card to make illegitimate purchases and of writing business account checks to herself. She’s also accused of forging the signature of two township employees.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Adams.

Just under 300 people live in Tremont Township, which includes several small villages in the Echo Valley area south of Tremont.
