Forestville man wanted by Shenandoah police on felony warrant

SHENANDOAH – A Forestville man is wanted on a felony warrant by Shenandoah Police.
According to borough police, Edward Harley 47, last known address of 35 White Lane, Forestville, is wanted on a felony warrant issued June 15 after an incident which occurred in April.
On April 16, just after midnight, Harley drove a black Saturn through the borough, driving south on North Chestnut to West Lloyd, east to North Ferguson, north to Coal, west to West, north to Penn, and west from there.
Patrolman David Stamets observed the actions, a faulty rear license plate light on the vehicle, and noted the vehicle’s registered owner was wanted on an active felony firearms violation out of Minersville. A traffic stop was initiated in the 300 block of West Penn, and the driver was identified as Harley.
Minersville Police were contacted to confirm a warrant, though the only officer on duty elected not to call out the on-call magisterial district judge, and requested Shenandoah Police find out Harley’s current address.
Harley was then asked to exit the vehicle to perform a field sobriety test, which he was unable to complete.
Stamets asked Harley if anything was in the vehicle, to which he noted a 40 caliber pistol was under the driver’s seat. Hanley was placed in the back of a marked Shenandoah patrol car while the weapon was retrieved. Harley was then notified he would be taken to the borough police station for a drug evaluation.
Found in the vehicle were the weapon and several small clear bags of a white powdery substance, lying near the firearm.
At the borough police station, Harley was asked to submit to a drug evaluation, which he agreed to, conducted at 2:20am.
A toxicology report found amphetamine and methamphetamine in Harley’s system, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Around 3:15pm, Harley’s vehicle was inventoried by borough police at Steve’s Towing, and a camouflage semi-automatic rifle with a magazine and homemade silencer was located.
Harley was asked if he owned the rifle, and, without further question, noted he crafted the silencer after watching a YouTube video on the subject.
Harley faces charges of Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License, Prohibitied Offensive Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving Under the Influence, among others.
