Florida man accused of firing shot in Hazleton

HAZLETON – A Florida man is in a Luzerne County lockup, accused of firing a gun near a Hazleton restaurant.
Dionnys Torres-Noboa, 28, of Tampa, was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment, propulsion of missiles onto roadways, and possession of a weapon charges, among others.
Hazleton Police said they were in the area of Carson Street and Diamond Avenue around 4:30am March 8 when they heard a gunshot fired near the Kayros Restaurant and Lounge.
There, a man was seen holding a black object in his hand while walking towards a car parked on Carson Street. He placed that object — a Glock 19 handgun with an extended magazine — into the car and was detained.
That man, later identified as Torres-Noboa, was allegedly seen on surveillance footage firing a gunshot into the air. A spent shell casing was found nearby.
Torres-Noboa was arraigned and committed to Luzerne County Prison unable to post $150,000 straight cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 19.
