Flames destroy Zion Grove home overnight

ZION GROVE – A home in the Ringtown Valley was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill and southern Luzerne counties were called to 746 Creek Road in Zion Grove, along Route 339 in East Union Township around 1:30am.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire in a garage at the home, spreading into the home itself. A second alarm was struck shortly after.

Portable ponds were set up at the base of the driveway while aerial trucks from Shenandoah and Nuremberg set up near the home along with engines from Ringtown and Sheppton. A tanker fill site was established at the Park Crest Fish and Game Club.

A State Police fire marshal was requested to the scene.

No injuries were reported as of 3:30am. Crews remain on the scene as of 3:30am and Route 339 is closed in the area.

Three adults were displaced and the American Red Cross was requested to the scene to assist.

Firefighters responding included crews from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Frackville, Girardville, Ringtown, Sheppton-Oneida, Nuremberg-Weston, West Hazleton, Hazle Township, Ryan Township, among others, as well as Shenandoah Ambulance.
