Firefighters tackle tire fire near borough line

SHENANDOAH – Borough firefighters tackled a tire fire along a coal haul road near the borough line Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the area of East Centre Street and Yatesville Road for a reported fire just after 12:30pm.
Smoke could be seen for several miles from the fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a tire fire spreading to nearby brush along a coal haul road.
Crews made quick work of the fire and were clear within about half an hour.
No injuries were reported.
