Firefighters tackle large brush fire in Blythe
SILVER CREEK – Parts of the Schuylkill Valley were blanketed in smoke as firefighters battled a large brush fire in the woodlands between here and Kaska Monday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched just after 1pm to the area of Tucker Hill and New Philadelphia Road in the woodlands west of Kaska.
Firefighters arrived to find a large brush fire burning in the area.
Eventually, firefighters from across central Schuylkill County were brought in to battle the fire.
Crews from New Philadelphia, Kaska, Cumbola, Tuscarora, Saint Clair, Pottsville, and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) responded to the fire.
The fire was contained and firefighters were clear by 5pm Monday.
