SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah firefighters were called to the borough’s Burger King location downtown late Tuesday night for a smoke and odor investigation.

Firefighters from Shenandoah’s five fire companies as well as Mahanoy City’s West End were dispatched to the restaurant at 331 South Main Street at 11:50pm for reports of smoke in the building and an odor of gas.

Shenandoah Police arrived on scene within minutes, reporting no smoke, and confirming an odor of gas, and Shenandoah’s fire chief cancelled Mahanoy City’s rescue at that point.

Shenandoah firefighters arrived on scene and began investigating.

No fire was found, and within 20 minutes, crews were clear of the scene.
