Fire damages Frackville duplex Sunday afternoon

FRACKVILLE – Firefighters across our area have been busy this week, including handling a fire in Frackville Sunday afternoon.
Crews were called to the 200 block of South Broad Mountain Avenue just before 1pm Sunday, finding heavy fire at the rear of the double-block home.
Both sides of the duplex were heavily damaged and crews from Frackville, Altamont, Englewood, Shenandoah, and Mahanoy City all responded to assist.
One resident was evaluated by medical personnel and several pets died in the blaze.
The fire was one of several in our area in recent days, including one a few blocks away in the Altamont section as well as fires in Fountain Springs and Mount Carmel.
