FCI-Schuylkill inmate charged for possessing ‘shank’

MOUNT PLEASANT – A federal inmate at FCI-Schuylkill is facing charges after authorities say he manufactured a weapon in prison.

Tommy Clark, 22, was charged last week with a federal charge of possessing contraband in prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Clark had a 6 1/2 inch piece of metal sharpened to a point, commonly referred to as a shank.

If convicted, Clark could face five years in prison.

Clark is serving a 30 month sentence on federal charges, accused of flashing a handgun in an Instagram video in Richmond, Va. in 2022. The Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper said he had been convicted of felony grand larceny two months before and was barred from having a firearm.
