Ex-interpreter pleads guilty to corruption of minors, indecent assault

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Kim McIntyre leaves district court in Shenandoah on Jan. 29, 2024 after her arraignment. With her is Attorney Joe Nahas.

SHENANDOAH – A former sign language interpreter at the Shenandoah Valley High School accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with two students pleaded guilty to two counts against her last week.

Kimberly Rae McIntyre, 32, of Gordon, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault last Thursday.

She was accused of having a sexual relationship with two Shenandoah Valley students while she was employed there. According to court documents, State Police said she met the two at various locations in Shenandoah at Gordon where the acts occurred.

One victim told state troopers that the two had intercourse at McIntyre’s mother’s house in Gordon between 10 and 20 times.

District Attorney Mike O’Pake told the Sentinel she was sentenced to five years probation, a term the victims’ families had agreed to.

McIntyre will also have to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years.

She was originally facing four felony counts each of institutional sexual assault — intercourse/sexual contact with a school student, and corruption of minors when charges were bound for county court.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this article mistakenly listed one of the charges she pleaded guilty to as a felony. It was a misdemeanor, and has been corrected.
