Ex-Conyngham Twp. supervisor pleads guilty to federal tax evasion, fraud charges
ARISTES – A former Conyngham Township official pleaded guilty to federal charges, accused to swiping over $147,000 in township funds.
Linda Tarlecki, 63, of Aristes, pleaded guilty Thursday to federal tax evasion and bank fraud charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said in a news release.
Tarlecki was secretary/treasurer for Conyngham Township from 2013 through 2017.
Authorities said that, at that time, she defrauded the township and Fulton Bank of over $147,000 by issuing forged paychecks to herself. She also failed to report the income on her personal income taxes, owing $38,000 in taxes.
She can face up to 35 years in prison and she will be sentenced at a later date.
