KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Bob Cook campaigns for Mayor outside the Polish American firehouse on Election Day on Nov. 4, 2025.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story reflected Pietkiewicz leading the mayoral race. Current tallies have been clarified and this story has been updated to reflect that.

SHENANDOAH – Election Day results from Shenandoah’s six polling places show Bob Cook ahead for borough mayor and two incumbent council members out.

Cook, a Republican challenger, leads the former borough council president Pietkiewicz, a Democrat, 278-234.

“Shenandoah voters have voted, and who they elected, I hope either candidate, myself or Mr. Cook, do the job that is expected by our voters and direct the police department in the right direction,” Pietkiewicz told the Sentinel Tuesday evening as results began to come in. “I thank all my supporters and, to who wins, best of luck. The cards have fallen where they are.”

Diane Korenda was the top vote-getter with 282 votes followed by incumbent Mayor Andrew Szczyglak with 277 votes, newcomer Adolph ‘Ace’ Wychulis with 265 votes, and incumbent Michael Whitecavage with 261 votes.

Jacob Alinsky, a Republican, and Michelle Gulden, a Democrat, were the first two out with 228 votes and 212 votes.

Incumbent Democrats James P. Burke and Katie Catizone were the bottom two vote-getters with 202 votes and 193 votes respectively.
