Incumbents, Matern take Frackville council seats; Ashland has new mayor, old council

FRACKVILLE – Three incumbents will return to Frackville council next year along with a newcomer.

John Matern, a political newcomer, is the top vote-getter as of 11pm, the unofficial final results update from the Schuylkill County Election Bureau. He received 657 votes.

Incumbents Edward Beneshunas, Steve Kuzio, and Stephen Tertel all won their re-election bids with 622, 607, and 536 votes respectively.

Tylor Blackwell was the only ballot candidate not elected to council, receiving 525 votes.

In Ashland, Lorenda Kutz was elected mayor over Antimo Brooklyn Esposito by 279 votes to 220 votes.

The four incumbents retain their seats on Ashland Borough Council.

Adam J. Bernodin Jr. was the top vote-getter with 378 votes, followed by John F. Reilly with 286; Francis Menne with 284; and Charles J. Schmoltze with 259 votes.

Julie Pohl, Donna Salem, and Edward P. Moran, Jr., all lost their re-election bids.
