Elderly woman killed in Hazleton house fire

HAZLETON – An 83-year-old woman was killed in a house fire in Hazleton Saturday.
Fire broke out at a home in the area of 13th and Locust Streets in the city around 3:45pm.
Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke billowing from the home.
Hazleton firefighters made quick work of the fire and found a victim inside.
That victim — identified by Hazleton Police as Kathleen Herchel, 83 — passed away.
Authorities are investigating.
