East Union Township fires officer-in-charge

SHEPPTON – A police officer is off the job in the valley after township supervisors voted 3-0 to fire him Monday night.
East Union Township Supervisors voted to fire Doug Litwhiler after an executive session at the end of Monday’s township supervisors meeting.
Solicitor Donald Karpowich said a Loudermill hearing was held on Sept. 15 regarding Litwhiler, who was officer-in-charge.
Supervisors Vice-Chairwoman Wendy Danchision made a motion to terminate Litwhiler, seconded by Supervisors Chairman Kyle Mummey.
Mummey, Danchision, and Jill Careyva voted to approve the motion.
Supervisors did not discuss what led to the vote.
Litwhiler was appointed officer-in-charge last October following the departure of Chief Christopher Dimmick.
According to the payroll report distributed at Monday’s meeting, the department had four officers on-duty for at least a shift in September, including Litwhiler. Part-timers Marvin Livergood, Frederick Lahovski, and Scott Michalesko remain.
Supervisors did not take action to appoint an officer-in-charge Monday night.

Its really sad that this cop (Doug) is actually I really good cop. But every township seems to be getting rid of him because of rumors or what people say about the guy. That is ridiculous.
He is really a jerk. Harassed people unduly and deserved to be fired!
